    The joy of summer

    Mölltaler Gletscher/

The three highest ski areas of Carinthia are enthroned with the 3,798 metres high Grossglockner, Austria’s highest peak, towering up amidst them.

Grossglockner/Heiligenblut, Möll Valley Glacier, Ankogel – the 267 formidable mountains which reach over 3, 000 metres in the Hohe Tauern National Park look down kindly on their visitors. In the Nationalpark-Region Hohe Tauern Kärnten there is no synchronised leisure industry; off the perfectly prepared pistes, life is governed by the wild, untouched nature which is also perfect for extended ski touring and snowshoe hiking. The ski areas have a snow guarantee from December until April and even all year round on the glacier.

The villages, the people and even tourism have preserved their natural, original charm in the high mountains. They live their traditions, often centuries old, and take care of their guests with loving care. Hospitality is the hallmark of the numerous family-run businesses and high up there where the larches grow slowly, people think in generations, not in seasons. The purest natural snow is permanent at this bracing altitude, turning the varied pistes and the large free riding terrain into wintry playgrounds for any demand.
