Mörtschach lies at 950 m above sea level, nestled between the massif of the Großglockner, the Lienz Dolomites, the Schober and the Kreuzeck groups.

Well-marked trails offer contemplative hikes. Our village is also often chosen by experienced mountaineers as the departure point for demanding climbing tours, thanks to its central position between the three-thousand metre peaks of the Schober group and its proximity to the Großglockner.
