And nowhere else are horse lovers more in their element than in central Carinthia – be they leisurely trekkers, enthusiastic young campers, professionals with show experience or polo players. No wonder that riding is such a popular sport in the province and one horse show follows another.
Central Carinthia is truly El Dorado for riding: between Lake Wörth, Lake Ossiach and the Nocky Mountains – as riders fondly call the Nockberge – there are long stretches of beautiful rolling countryside just waiting to be explored.
The bridle paths go though lush meadows and unspoiled forests, up into the hills and down to the water, past mighty castles, such as Hochosterwitz, and humble farmsteads – simply ideal for rediscovering the fine nuances of nature.
