Some like it hot ...... and they are sent to the Tressdorf Alm: eleven ultimate trend sports equipment await the restless and the active at the „NTC Blue Day“ Fun Park: how about tackling the pistes with tubes or ,,chasing rabbits'' with the Snowfox for example?
Snow biking is the optimal possibility for skiers and for non-skiers to experience the fun of action-rich winter sport, since this sport can also be quickly learned by anti-skiers. Those among you who like to experiment, can master medium difficult and steep slopes without any problems after a 3-day snow biking course. The ski, consisting of 2 parts, makes it possible to create great swings of different radii over the slopes, and an active balance system gives the snow biker a feeling of weightlessness, which is also great for the joints.
For mountain bike freaks and for expert downhill skiers, winter now no longer means locking your bike in the cellar. Mountain biking on ice and snow can, nowadays, no longer be left out from the series of the alternative types of winter sports.
The Carinthian Sport school Krainer organizes snowdownhill-workshops with international top skiers from the racing scene. You will be able to really enjoy your dream vacation without any accidents - guaranteed. Also, winter paragliding, for example from the Gerlitzen, promises a special enjoyment of winter sports. What can be more beautiful than to observe a dreamlike winter landscape with snow-covered forests and meadows, glittering ice surfaces and mountain peaks which shine in the sun?
If, however, you prefer to stay on the ground and in the area of the slopes, you can discover a nice alternative to skiing and ski touring with telemarking. Due to the light equipment, the art of nostalgic skiing guarantees you nature experiences at its best. This can also be tested in beginner's courses, which are thought by the telemarking champion Waltraud Sattlegger.
Ice-surfing and Ice-tennis
On Brennsee and Afritzersee lakes in the Bad Kleinkirchheim-Nockberge region, Austria´s first and up until now only ice-surfing school at Feld am See offers special programmes such as taster courses, weekend courses and private lessons.
Keen tennis players can also carry on playing outdoors in winter - on ice! But for a game of ice-tennis, of course, you need to wear skates rather than trainers. A nother spectacular alternative winter sport is ice-climbing. There are safe practice routes where ice is guaranteed until mid-March in Maltatal and Liesertal valleys and in Mallnitz.
However, the great hit this winter will be ski touring where individualists can look for encounters with the winter and themselves.
