Recreational cyclists, road racers and mountain bikers can choose between countless routes on lakes and rivers, up hills and mountains or across country – alone, with friends or with the whole family.
The routes themselves are as varied as the countryside itself. If flat ones appeal to you, go for the rivers – Drau, Möll, Gail or Lavant. For those panoramic views, head uphill into the Nock Mountains, Carnic Alps and Karawanken or, even steeper, the Hohe Tauern. Then there’s the thrill of Alpine-Adriatic biking all the way down to the sea. Or the thought of a place to swim after a round lake trip.
