Carinthia is Austria's southernmost province. Bordering on Italy and Slovenia, it covers an area of 9533 sq km to the south of the Eastern Alps. 56% of the province lies over 100 m above sea level.
In the north west the climate is affected by the Atlantic and in the south by the Mediterranean. The sun shines for about 2000 hours a year in Carinthia. Its sunny southern location and mild climate provide ideal conditons for motorcyclists.
